Biography
Founder and Chief Architect. Layer 1 design authority.
Drew Hall is Founder and Chief Architect of OpticWise, the company he founded in 2004 as Summit Networks. He is the Layer 1 design authority behind the SIC® (Security, Infrastructure, and Connectivity) engineering standard, OpticWise's core network design philosophy for owner-controlled CRE data & digital infrastructure.
Drew is co-author (with Bill Douglas) of Peak Property Performance®: Game-Changing AI and Digital Strategies for Commercial Real Estate (Fast Company Press, 2025), a 2026 Amazon Best Seller. He co-hosts the Peak Property Performance® Podcast alongside Bill.
His work lives at the intersection of connectivity, data & digital infrastructure, and commercial real estate performance. Drew's basic mission is to demystify what's happening inside buildings, bring visibility to blind spots, and make the resulting information actionable so owners can drive costs down, revenues up, and improve NOI.
Drew's technical leadership defines how every OpticWise property is designed, deployed, hardened, monitored, and operated. He leads with constraints and failure modes first, then designs for repeatability. His bias is toward resilience, security, and avoiding single points of failure. Vendors plug in under the owner's rules, not the other way around.
His approach to architecture: identify the real problem, evaluate tradeoffs with facts and logic (not hype), and build systems that scale without hero-work or single-person dependencies. Every BoT® (Building of Things®) deployment, every SIC® design, and every 5S® user experience standard traces back to principles Drew established and continues to enforce across the OpticWise portfolio.
Drew brings over 15 years of improv experience to his work, using humor to simplify complexity and keep serious conversations human. He is associated with Ultimate Comedy Fighters, an improv-for-charity organization.
Drew is based in Colorado.
